If an officer pulls you over, and you hand over your EWD, they should know exactly what to do next from the training provided to them by the NHVR. However, the question often comes up, how does an officer add an annotation on the EWD?
Before you hand over your electronic work diary, you need to enter Compliance mode, which is a restricted view which only shows officers the information they are legally allowed to see. Steps are provided below:
1. Click compliance (once in the compliance mode, you can no leave the section without your password)
2. This will put the app into compliance mode. You can now hand over your device to the officer.
3. From here the compliance officer should know how to navigate through and do all necessary checks.
4. If the officer wishes to add an annotation, they may tap on the graph in one of the annotation boxes
5. A pop-up box will appear, from where they can enter the Annotation.
6. After clicking ok, a circle icon will appear on the graph, to indicate there is an annotation for this time.
7. To view a list of all previous annotations, the blue circle pen icon in the bottom right can be clicked
8. This will show annotations on a day to day view. You can scroll between days with the left and right arrow at the top.
9. When you get your device back from the compliance officer. Click the back arrow and enter your account password.
